Reason # 52

Reason # 52 on why I love my husband....
I have a deep love of stripper shoes..the definition of stripper shoes: a sky high heel and sometimes a flashy shoes, but its mostly the height that defines a stripper shoe..see below
My momma bought me these shoes..yes, the same woman that beat it into my head to be a lady bought me these shoes..goodness I LOVE THAT WOMAN!!!  Anyway, so I put them on last night and said to Bradley..
Me:"Are these to strippery to wear to church?"
Him:"They look like all your other shoes..yes they are stripper heals"
Me:"Yes, but are they good stripper or bad stripper shoes?"
Him:"There is no such thing as bad stripper shoes."
....gosh, I LOVE THAT MAN!!!

well that never happens

I managed to get a picture of only my husband and me..and neither of us hates it...truly.never.happens!!
Whenever I finally make it around to do our photo book for this next adoption,  most of the pictures are supposed to be of just us..and no kids.  Well, since we started having/getting kids we have like 4 pictures of us alone..so we are trying to get more when we think of it..so far we have 2 pictures for our 7-10 page photo album....trucking right along, right?!?!

visit!

Charlie was lucky to get a visit with Mark!  I was working and Bradley took him...so that explains the one and only picture..and that came from Mark!  Thank goodness someone took a picture!
I have not seen Mark in a while, I missed his last two visits cause I was working and then he was in Afghanistan for a while, but Bradley keeps me updated!
The visit was great, but it had been almost a year since Charlie had seen Mark, and that wasn't for lack of trying on Marks part, but with Afghanistan and living in California, it's been hard to get together, but we made it happen.  Since it had been a while it took Charlie longer then usual to warm up and stop being shy...like shy like we have never seen before..like shy and embarrassing us with how he was acting, but we totally understood why.  He finally warmed up and came home talking like his mama...he was so excited and talking 90 miles a minute with stories!
I'm glad for both Mark and Charlie that it was a great visit!!

I thought this was a great picture of them!

10 kids in a photograph....

We wanted to get some pictures of all 10 grankids when Aric and Amber were in town, but it was such a busy trip we never really found all of us together that many times.  On Friday night Sage decided to get baptized..so of course we were all there for that!!!!!  We grabbed some pictures afterwards in the church parking lot....and I think they turned out okay...for 10 kids.... at 8pm!!

Grandaddy and all 10 kids....we had a "Grandaddy" frame that needed updating!

My sister-in-law Amber had a picture similar to this one on her blog and she had all the ages of all the kids...lets just say she has a better memory then me!  Click here to see it if you want to!

Moms and Grandaddy and the kiddos.

I needed these pictures of the kids to finish up my mothers day gift to my mom..I gave it to her without pictures.  I thought I'd get every ones pictures at the same time when Aric and Amber were visiting! I'll post a pic once its finally done!
My 2 kids seems kinda weak to both my brothers 4...but despite my mothers praying, 3 is all were ever hoping for!!

pictures are never complete until there is a silly picture!

Gak..again!

I wanted to do something fun with Sage and Noah when they were down..and Gak is always a hit!  It was another success..if by success you mean they had fun making it..and not that everything in my parents backyard stayed clean:)

Noah was a bit grossed out by the feel at first!

as always, adults had fun too!

no one even batted an eye at my "throwing up"..apparently that does get old:)

The recipe for the Gak was here!

Atention all type A's

So I found this great idea on one of my favorite blogs Eighteen25.
I copied it and Charlie and I are loving it.  The top one is their picture..I put it on here since it photographs better then mine..and since theirs is framed! I printed it at Sam's and picked it up and hour later.  I was going to attempt to cut some extra crown molding to make a frame for it, but after another crown molding project gone bad, I opted just to stick it up alone!
I came up with my own ideas and copied some of theirs.

This is mine..its on the pantry door and Charlie loves to come in and mark off things that we have done!!  I liked the idea because I have so many things I want to do, but I either forget or don't make time..if it is on a list...then I cant wait to do it so I can cross it off!!!  Hope you guys enjoy this one too!!  Click on Eighteen25 above and it will take you to the site and tell you how to download, etc!!

10k..done:)

I committed to run a half marathon in November..HALF..people keep asking about my marathon and I keep correcting..HALF.  I have been training for 2 months now and decided to run some 5K and 10k and relay things along the way to keep me motivated and training.  So, the first race I picked..after not running for 20 years..The Firefly, a 10k that starts at 9pm and you wear all kind of glowey things..sounds fun right?  The only glitch that I did not see before responding "Heck yes"..was that the first 3.1 miles have to be done in 30 min..a 9:40 pace.  Well, it was work..and I wanted to die..and the congestion did not clear up until mile 3..but mile 4, 5, and 6 were good...well, better!
 I'm glad I did it..now.
About mile 3 I was saying to myself " Why the crap did I already commit and pay for the 1/2 marathon".."this is MISERABLE"...."I am dying, was that another heart palpitation?"..and the one phrase repeated over and over..."Jesus help me...and don't let me walk..and don't met me die:)
I did the one thing EVERYONE says not to..I set a goal.  Find me a type A that wont set a goal..it's in my blood..I cannot help it!!  This is the girl who peed in a cup while driving home to college just to beat a previous time..I wish it wasn't true, but sadly it is!!
I missed my goal by 22 seconds...DADGUMIT!!!  Now I just have a number to beat next time!!  Total time...6.2 miles in 63:21
I ran with my running partner Tylene...my running friend who has actually done a marathon...she has been an EXCELLENT resource!!  Looking forward to the next one Ty...maybe a morning one next time!!
this was before the race...I know that because we are still smiling:)

at the start line

these wont get bigger, but this was mile 3...doesn't the caption "I want to die" just fit:)
If only I was cooler and remembered to show my muscles as I crossed the line...next time!

This was when we got home..at 12am..it was a LONG night!!  But fun memories were made!!

out with the old

The downstairs bathroom used to be orange.  I loved bright colors when we moved in.  I don't love them as much now.  Not true actually..I love them more now..just not as much on my walls.  That's the joy of paint peeps..this took me just 2 days to do...you can always repaint!  It only took two days because I primed one one day and painted the next!  I love the new look!
Old:before
After..I love grey..always have, always will.  Grey with yellow accents made me giddy:)

This project cost was 30..$26 on paint and $3 at good will:)  The cross I had and painted and next to it is just a shoebox top that has a spray painted stencil on it..copied from another blog!

This beauty was $3 at goodwill and I forgot a before shot..but it was old and wooden!  Check out top row, second picture in...we were just 18yr old babies:)

Free printable from a blog and who doesn't need a reminder to be delightful...oh, everyone else doesn't????:)

I covered up the honey colored cabinets, distressed them, painted a stencil and added some knobs.  I loved the final result...Charlie on the other hand, was super unhappy that his orange bathroom was gone:(

Finally got to do a turquoise project...super pumped to show you!

someones trash is his treasure:)

I am covered in freckles..counting them is like counting stars..only God can do it.  They are not my favorite feature...but someone in this house thinks their freckles are AWESOME!
Charlie LOVES his freckles and we are constantly counting them and checking for new ones..we are up to 6 now!!
this is his only light one, but he makes sure it gets counted!

his second one

a recently new one

he will kill me one day for showing off theses 2 beauties:)

My favorite one...it's under his left eye.  It was his first and it was so cute....never thought any of mine were cute:)  But his are adorable!!

worst project ever..

So, out of all the projects that we have done at the new house..this was the one that BEAT ME DOWN and lasted forever:(  The paint on the door started to peel off..then the hail hit it on 4 different occasions and it was rough looking.  So, we stripped it..like 5 times, sanded it..a lot and then finally started painting it...2 weeks later....I only wish I was kidding.  Turns out it was not 100% smooth so you could see imperfections as you painted..so we painted a coat, then sanded and then painted a coat and sanded..for about 10 coats...whipped.
and the annoying part...it looks the same.  Which is good, but if I spend all that time on a project I like something fun to show for it.  The gold hardware got painted..so that was a bonus!

same.stinkin.door.

I did add a wreath..which I am still not sure how I feel about..but at least you look at that and not any of the small imperfections that are left on the door!
