shut up, my baby turned 6!

First off, these pictures are all out of order..and I am to lazy to change that.  If that bothers you..then I am questioning our friendship.
So, Charlie's 5th birthday was a bust..lame, no party..we SUCKED as fun parents last year.  It wasn't for lack of trying but nothing worked out and we could not give him the party he wanted (a superhero party out in the woods which was out due to extreme heat and west nile virus.)
Anyway, so we decided this year that whatever kind of party he wanted he was getting.  After ignoring all my nudging's to have the party at Urban Air (a trampoline place) we went with his request...a army party.  Which I helped mold into a boot camp themed party.  He had fun so that's all that matters, right!
You had to get your face painted to start boot camp!

We had an obstacle course set up in the back yard with 7 stations you had to get through.  This one was swinging over the poisonous and scary alligators, snacks and spiders...if you look hard you can see some of them:)

Group photo on the "wall" they had to climb over.

I think this is me giving them the run through on the course!

The peanut gallery:)
After they got in the ice bath they slide down the slip and slide...slip and slides are always a hit!

The ice bath...they maily dipped their toes, but I think a few brave ones set down!!  I had 10 bags of ice in this thing...it was cold people!!!
Sweet girl had to get her face painted too!!
Last station was the mud pit..there were army men in the mud and you had to rescue your fallen soldiers and bring them to safety!
Or pick up the mud and throw it at your mommy..whatever!
Family shot!!  This is one that is just "us"...cute, but a little dirty!

Even the babies got painted up!
Right after the obstacle course finished we had a downpour...like a ton of rain for August.  I guess I should be happy that we at least got he the obstacle course, but I still had nerf guns for everyone to play with and have a shooting party with:(

Dinner and cake!

Sweet girl can eat watermelon for HOURS!!!

Camo cake made by yours truly...and it tasted like it!

So, the nerf party that was supposed to happen outside...took place in my house.  AWESOME, right?!?!?!

Thought this was a great shot!!

So this is a picture I texted to mom and Amber (who were in Alaska) and it said "I am killing this cake..where are you two when I need you!"  It started off rough peeps, real rough!!

The cake ended up like this and if I was a better mom I should have totally made another one and perfected it the second time..I totally figured our all my mistakes, but I threw in some ice cream with first one and called it a good one!!

I liked this edited shot!
On his birthday weekend we ate Hibachi for lunch after church on Sunday..those kids love those chop sticks..but those things are NO good!!  There was more rice on the ground then any where else!

On his actual birthday he woke up to this!! Have I mentioned I LOVE BIRTHDAYS!!!!!!!

Happy 6th birthday Charlie!  You are everything I dreamed you would be and more!

The thigs you do for peace and quiet:)

Sometimes..against my better judgment, I just ignore the quiet.  Lets be real..if it's quiet, I better enjoy it for that tiny moment because once I find the source of the "quietness"...I will inevitably loose my mind.

I knew Harper Jane was WAY to quiet outside in the tree house, but I was cooking dinner and dadgumit, I needed 10 min of quiet time to get it done.  Well, hope it was worth it because that 10 minutes cost me a night of bathing everyone by myself...not an even trade for 10 min!!

"Sure guys..fill up the pools and strip down to your underwear and play...mama needs just 5 more minutes for dinner".  Never mind the fact that our new neighbors were in their backyard and we came off as very white trash...I got an extra 5 minutes and IT WAS WORTH IT PEOPLE!!!

You want to play "potty" and destroy a roll of toilet paper.....have at it..I just got 5 minutes to sit quietly and check Instagram...well worth it peeps:)

You want to dump oatmeal all over your head and let it run all over EVERY part of your body...have at it...I just ate breakfast in silence...WORTH IT!

I will gladly take my 5 minutes here and there...sometimes those small moments are what get me through the day without killing anyone:)

Eastons back at school!!!

Easton started back up Pre School at Legacy Church of Christ and he is loving it!!  I was so proud of him the first day.  He smiled and went right in..no tears at all!!  That is HUGE for Easton and it was a nice little reminder that he has come so far and is still making such great progress.  We talked about seeing his teachers and friends for the last month..we talked it to death, but it looks like it worked!!

I love our little Pre School and I love his teachers and the director..they have been such a blessing to us and I may be biased in saying this, but I'm pretty sure they have been blessed by our sweet Easton!!

Love this sweet boy and his sweet spirit!

Rangers game and Rangers tour!

In an attempt to make this summer an "epic last summer before Kindergarten" we tried to get in some extra time and more one on one time with Charlie!  Bradley took Charlie on a tour of The Ballpark..they had talked about doing it forever and about 2 weeks before school started back up, they finally went!  I know its so important to get in one on one time with each parent and each kid, but I do hate to miss out on fun new things!  It's hard to watch him go have fun without me, but I know its good!

We also took him to a Ranger game and the give away was a camo hat..um hello, I may have a few things to wear that with:)

Charlie's face cracks me up!

P.S. Kindergarten has gone great so far and Charlie is still loving every moment of it..and that makes this mama happy!!

My baby starts kindergarten!!

So, there may have been a bit of lag time between the last post and now...I am not that super mom that can keep kids alive and still blog...so, I decided to not feel guilty about always being behind.  I decided I'd blog again when school starts..so here's another attempt!!!
Totally waited till the day before school to make this sign..at least it got done:)

My teacher treat..I may have felt guilty after seeing a few other friends treats and stole this from Eighteen25 blog (which I love!!)  It's what Easton's teachers will be getting too!  It says "with you as my teacher I'll be one smart cookie"...and inside is the GREATEST COOKIE recipe EVER...EVER!  Its amazeballs!!  Am I selling it enough!?!?!?  It's on my Pinterest board if you need the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe!!

We may have cheated and took pictures the day before school..it was a brilliant idea!  It was no stress and we both had fun with it!

Duck Dynasty..cause we keep it classy like that:)

Y'all..he was SOOO excited..so pumped!

The sign was my idea but the set up and shot were his idea!  And when I say the sign was my idea I mean that I saw it on a blog or Pinterest and tucked it away in my brain for this very day!

Y'all, I get teary again just looking at these pictures..

Hand on hip..gotta love older nieces teaching him the tricks!

I guess I should start by saying that karama is real and that somewhere someone is smiling.  I used to roll my eyes and possibly make fun of those people that went on and on and cried a lot about kindergarten...I mean, its not like you didn't know this days was coming, right?  And besides, its just school..its not like their gone forever........NO PEOPLE, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IT'S LIKE
The ugly cry came hard and fast..like so hard I could not even speak to my husband..not that I wanted to.  When I finally could speak I informed him that his spiritual gift was NOT compassion.  He had the nerve to ask me if it was as bad and I thought it was going to be.. no, it wasn't as bad.  IT WAS 10 TIMES WORSE YOU JERK.
Thank the Lord Charlie was super pumped and was happy to be there because heaven help me if he would have cried...it would have been over people..I could never show my face again.  Because I would have snatched him up and ran home...it was bad peeps..BAD.
I may have cried again on the 3rd day when I dropped him off and he walked in on his own...a small piece of me died that day..true story.

So, that's what I get for making fun of people..it totally came back to bite me..serves me right though.....I have never made it through one Happy Birthday song to any of my kids without crying so why I thought I could pull off kindergarten without tears is beyond me.....

And the school day would not be complete without a dirty Braums treat!!
